This kit relocates your Smittybilt X20 GEN3 Winch Control Box to the engine bay of your truck.
Why do I need this?
This upgrade has multiple advantages.
Firstly - this makes plugging in your winch controller very easy and safe. Simply pop your hood and plug it in. The control box on the Smittybilt X20 winch has an On/Off button on it that activates the wireless signal - this gives you easy access to it! This also makes charging your wireless remote a breeze.
Secondly - the control box is the least waterproof and most likely part to cause your winch to fail. Moving it to the top of the engine bay keeps the contactors and electrical connections away from submersion in water, mud and road grime.
Thirdly - Not all winches can fit behind a bumper because the control box interferes. This kit solves that problem and adds function at the same time.
What length do I need?
Most applications require 6 feet or less. The winch comes with the ground cable 6' long which is almost always long enough.
Using a piece of rope, route where you want to mount your control box in your engine bay within 1.5 feet of your battery (+) and down to the electrical terminals on your Smittybilt Winch. Measure the length of this rope to determine what length you require for your kit. Make sure you give yourself enough slack, its better to be a bit too long than too short.

VICE Quality
All kits are manufactured to order in house with North American Sourced Cables and Connectors. All materials and components in this kit were chosen because they were higher quality than what comes with your winch; That way its up to the task when you need it!
Compatibility:
This product fits the Smittybilt X20 GEN 3 and XRC lines of winches in both Steel Cable and Synthetic applications.
For GEN 2 models see our GEN 2 specific relocation kit.
Check out the video below to see how strait forward the installation is. Note this was performed on the WARN VR EVO winch. The method is the same for the Smittybilt. We will release a video soon showcasing a GEN3 X20.
I used this for a XRC Gen 3 and it's a tight fit for that controller, but it's workable with some tweaks. Nice kit.

Good Quality
Wire terminals are of a different size than the Smittybuilt ones. Makes rewiring the control box a pain. However good quality wire and fittings (prob better than Smittybuilt). Just know this is a "universal mounting" and not a bolt on.

Easy Button
Made a tedious project quick and easy. Vey happy with the harness and how easy it was to relocate my control into the engine compartment.

Easy install even on my own. Feel like I know the staff at Vice like family after watching the YouTube video 100 times during the install. Thank you for you support throughout the shipping process.
The system went together, pretty smoothly, obviously not like the video, but it was pretty straightforward and only took about an hour. However, the winch hook mount that bolts on the front warn fairlead was too long and had to be cut off with angle grinder. This allowed for proper threading of the provided grade 6-8 bolt running through the manufacturers hook mount. After cutting approx 1/4 inch off things worked perfectly
I’m very pleased with the winch mount. Communication with the company (Quinton) was excellent. The mount is hand made specifically for your vehicle. The price was significantly less than buying a whole new bumper. It simply inserted through my factory bumper. I took it to a shop that deals entirely with off road equipment, additions etc. They admitted that they hadn’t done one of these from Vice previously but handled the job perfectly in about 4 hours.
While I haven’t had to use the winch yet for real, I’ve experimented in and out and used the remote control on the winch without a problem. This gives me confidence and insurance while driving icy snowy Montana roads. Thanks Vice. Job well-done.
